Canon's most advanced image processor, DIGIC 4, delivers evolved Face Detection Technology that keeps every face in every photo looking its very best. iSAPS Technology is an entirely original scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the advanced DIGIC 4 Image Processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance.

A Face Detection Self-Timer automatically detects an increase in the number of faces and makes the appropriate adjustments. For instance, to include the photographer's face in a group shot, there's no need to rush in. Just put the camera on a stand or tripod, specify Face Detection Self-timer, and the camera will wait for the photographer's face to get on-camera before it takes the shot. The PowerShot SX210 IS can even use i-Contrast in playback mode to adjust images that were shot without the setting activated.

Red-eye Correction provides three options for removing red-eye from subjects in flash pictures.
1) Red-eye Correction during shooting actually identifies and corrects red-eye in human subjects as pictures are taken.
2) The PowerShot SX210 IS can be set to automatically detect and correct red-eye during image playback.
3) You can manually locate any red eyes in a scene during image playback on the LCD screen, and command the camera to remove them.

The PowerShot G12 is equipped with Canon's highly advanced Hybrid IS function, which corrects camera shake from two sources to deliver sharp, blur-free images even when you zoom in close to your subject.

Hybrid IS employs both an angular sensor and an accelerometer, enabling it to suppress both the blur caused by the angle of the camera and the "shift blur" that happens when your subject moves parallel to the camera, a problem that is especially noticeable at large zoom factors.

The PowerShot G12 is compatible with the Speedlite flash series intended for all EOS series SLR cameras. Attach a Speedlite flash to the hot shoe, then you can set and control the flash on the "Flash Control" menu in the camera. With a Speedlight, the G12 is given extra functions such as autoflash metering, FE lock and Flash exposure compensation; continuous shooting with external flash. Also Canon's Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 enables you to have multiple slave flashes and wireless control. Beautiful Images with Beautiful Detail.
Shooting in high contrast environments can often result in photos with overexposed and underexposed sections. So to tackle this problem, Canon developed the High Dynamic Range shooting mode to make select PowerShot cameras even more intuitive. Under High Dynamic Range* the camera will shoot three different exposures in a succession (underexposed, overexposed and normal) and then merge them into a single image. Underexposed areas are combined with the overexposed and vice versa, resulting in an evenly detailed image with flattering shadows and highlights.

Just press and rotate the control wheel to set the level of background defocusing you want - it's easy and intuitive because you can confirm the level of defocusing on the LCD monitor in real-time.

Shooting tips to help you achieve your goals and boost your skills
In addition to basic Help Guide information, these NEX cameras are also equipped with built-in shooting tips. The tips provide information relevant to the current shooting situation or mode selection and are designed with both beginners and more advanced users in mind. Two types of tip are offered: 1) tips about particular types of subject and scene, and 2) tips on general photographic technique. Since the entire library of shooting tips can also be accessed via the Camera menu and viewed as a single guidebook, it's like having a complete photography tutorial built right into your camera.

A graphical user interface that works the way you expect it to
The main menu features six clearly labeled icons that can be selected simply by rotating and pressing the control wheel. Inside, standard scrolling menus provide quick access to settings for shooting and playback functions, as well as a host of other user preferences and camera settings. The wide-screen format of the LCD monitor also contributes to enhanced menu legibility, so text and icons are always easy to see and select.

A built-in Help Guide - so it's always there when you need it
The Help Guide displays a pop-up window with a brief description of each item or function when selecting modes or scrolling through menu items with the control wheel. It also displays easy-to-understand error messages if you attempt to perform an invalid operation, so you're never left wondering if something unexpected occurs.

Sweep Panorama mode for images of scale and grandeur
The amazing Sweep Panorama mode lets you capture scenic vistas of unprecedented scale and grandeur. High-speed continuous shooting at up to 7 frames per second
Thanks to their powerful Exmor CMOS image sensor and BIONZ image processing engine, these NEX cameras can offer high-speed continuous shooting at up to 7 fps (approx.) in Speed Priority Continuous mode*, and at up to 2.3 fps (approx.) in Continuous Advance mode. In addition, their 10-second self-timer also has a 3-shot continuous shooting setting.

* Focus, exposure, and white balance are locked at the first shot. Continuous speed varies according to shooting conditions and memory cards used.

The rich realism of high dynamic range photography made easy
Perfect for sunsets, backlit cityscapes, and other dramatically illuminated subjects, Auto HDR mode lets you capture images with a super-realistic range of shadow and highlight detail. It achieves this feat by taking three exposures in rapid succession - one to capture a normal exposure, one to capture shadows, and one to capture highlights. The three exposures are then digitally combined into a single stunning image that is saved along with the normal exposure. For greater creative control, you can set the Auto HDR exposure range in six steps, from 1.0EV to 6.0EV, to get the precise effect you want.

The large Xtra Fine LCD monitor can be angled 80 upward or 45 downward to maximize your shooting freedom. Thanks to this variable angle capability, even high-position and low-position shots can be captured with ease.
