Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro Review - A Rugged Smartphone

The Not So Good Stuff

The OS: Although the Android Jelly Bean was launched back in July, 2012 we are still stuck with the Ice Cream Sandwich version. That means certain features like offline voice typing is not available. With that said, it does include some nifty features by Samsung like S Voice and S Beam, the latter enables users to transfer files, music, photos with a tap.

Durability: Well, I certainly do not say that this phone is not durable. It is, but it can be better when compared to other rugged phones. The Rugby Pro deals with normal incidents very well. But in extreme cases, like throwing the phone 30 feet across the room, the chassis can crack. Again, that doesn't mean it's not a good rugged phone. For casual users, it's perfect. But if you are looking to deal with some extreme cases, we advise against it.

Audio: I have heard the compliment for sound quality of the Rugby Pro and Samsung's phones in general. However, I beg to differ. Maybe it's just me being very strict on sound quality and many would be happy with the performance of Rugby Pro, but the lacking of bass makes it very hard to catch the lower note. It's really annoying when listening to stuff like rock, jazz.

The Verdict

This is a great device to have, especially if you are looking for something that can withstand the rigors of every use. With the rugged design, smooth performance, splendid display and camera, and all the bells and whistles of the latest technology, we have no qualm recommending the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro.
