The Samsung PN59D8000 59-Inch 1080p 600Hz 3D Plasma HDTV Reviewed

I Wanted A Bigger One

I had a Vizio 42" LCD TV in my old house but I wanted to upgrade to a bigger TV when I moved. I loved my Vizio and didn't really want to take a chance on another TV but my living room is much larger now. When I mounted the old Vizio on the wall in my new house, it looked tiny. I was afraid that I would lose picture quality when I upgraded to a larger size so I was hesitant at first. I spent a couple weeks trying to find the best TV for the money and I found this Samsung Plasma.

Here Is a Picture Of My Old TV

The Picture Quality!

I went from a 120 Hz TV to this one which is a 600 Hz. The difference is amazing. I watch a lot of football and other sports and I noticed on my other TV that when something went fast across the screen it would kind of break up. I had assumed it was my Cable providers fault and even had them to my house a few times to fix the problem. They all told me that the cable was fine and blamed it on my TV. I always complained that they didn't know what they were talking about but it turns out they did. Boy did I feel like an idiot.

The Black Is Actually Black!

When I was comparing the different TV's before I bought this one I read about all this stuff about LCD's not being able to show "True Black". I thought it was some sort of sales ply like everything else in this world it seems. But when I started comparing them side-by-side I realized the experts were right. My LCD TV along with the ones in the store looked a bit grey. When I read up even more the explanation is that the LCD allows some light through the pixels. What this means to me as the viewer is that the Black objects on the screen are really black with plasma. This makes the picture look 100 times better.

Reflection

This is something that only affects me when I have my blinds open during the day and am watching TV. The plasma screen is somewhat reflective and I can sometime see myself in the screen when there is a dark scene. While this is somewhat annoying at times, I understand it is prevalent in all Plasma TV's. Overall, all of the positives definitely outweigh the one negative.
