Samsung's new C8000 series Plasma flat-panel 3D HDTVs produces one of the highest-quality pictures tested this year in both 2D and 3D modes, although the costs much less than its direct competitors of plasma TVs. Excellent black-level performance; accurate color overall; properly handles 1080p/24 sources; excellent bright-room image for a plasma; numerous picture controls and tweaks; sleek styling with inch-deep panel; superb streaming and widget content via well-integrated Apps platform and a very good 3D picture quality. But we find that duplication of Apps and widgets can be confusing. The 1080p/24 mode causes loss in black level performance.

The PN50C7000 is next to the top in the range of the Samsung's plasma 3D HDTVs, with Mega dynamic contrast ratio makes sure every frame is saturated with dense and rich color. The only missing feature differences in the C7000, which are included in the plasma C8000 is a 1 USB port, and lack of Cinema Smooth technology which is a judder reduction feature. The black levels are excellent and dark shadow detail is very good. The viewing angles are perfect.

We recommend leaving the Motion Judder Controller off due to the destruction of natural background blur. Motion effects are minimal and the quality of the image has a uniform and smooth appearance that we do not often encounter.

Samsung PN63C8000 is truly awesome. Sharpness, depth of contrast and viewing angle are perfect. The screen has some glare when viewing dark material in daylight, but otherwise the TruBlack does a great job of reducing glare, and 3D glasses reduce glare by 50% as well.

Samsung LED HDTVs create images by using white, light emitting diodes (LED) which is the same technology used in laptop screens. LED lights use much less energy than fluorescent lamps and offer more precise control of color, contrast and sharpness. Image sharpness is incredible and the 3D effect with the native 3D content is excellent. Color reproduction of the C8000 is great, close to the performance of the best plasmas.
