A little side issue

Normally, once you hook up your laptop, there should be no issues seeing your laptop's screen on your TV set. However, there may be the rare instance where you might have to go into Windows' settings to tweak things a bit to get it to work.

If you run into this exact type of issue, don't panic. Below is a handy YouTube video showing what settings to set your laptop to to get it to all work.

If you don't have a laptop

What if you'd love to stream videos with a laptop but don't have one?

If you're interested, you can purchase a low cost laptop or netbook with a small screen, as small as 10". Why a small screen? Since your TV will be used in place of the laptop's screen to view videos, you don't need to get a really expensive model with a huge 17" screen. All you need is a laptop that has a decent graphics chip and enough horsepower to stream internet videos smoothly without stuttering or lagging.

As Easy as 1 2 3!

If you've been watching internet TV on your desktop, laptop or tablet wishing that you could watch it all on a regular TV set, you can! All you need is a set top box like the Roku, a laptop, a Smart TV, or even a Blu-Ray player. Once you've connected one of these devices to your internet connect, you are good to go!

Before you purchase one of the above options, however, always make sure you research what each one does and doesn't offer in terms of apps, and also, what advantages each one may have over the other. You may find that a laptop may be a great choice, because you can use it for things other than streaming. You may find that a Roku is more preferable, because it's the cheapest option.

Then again, you may want to go with a Blu-Ray player, because it has YouTube, or just go with a Smart TV, because it eliminates clutter. Just make sure that you weigh all the pluses and minuses of each type of option so that you choose the one that's best for you.
